The Centre for Particle Science and Technology (CPST) at Shandong University (Qingdao campus) in China invites applications for a postdoctoral researcher position to work on the PandaX-4T experiment. The position is full-time for a fixed-term duration of 2-3 years. The yearly salary will be at least 200 kCNY (roughly 30 kUSD), in addition to subsidised housing options through the university and 30 kCNY living allowance and 30 kCNY housing allowance through Qingdao local government. We will also offer assistance in applying for the prestigious "Chung-Yao Chao Postdoctoral Fellowship" for additional benefits. Details may be referred to category-II at http://www.rsrczp.sdu.edu.cn/info/1053/2050.htm (in Chinese).

The PandaX-4T experiment is a next generation dark-matter direct search experiment with 4 tons of liquid xenon in the detector sensitive volume, a successor of PandaX-II (500 kg xenon). The goal is to push the dark-matter sensitivity down to 6e-48 cm2, a 1-2 orders of magnitude improvement to current values. The experiment will run at the China Jinping Underground Laboratory, Sichuan, China.

The successful candidate will mainly work on the photomultiplier tubes system of the experiment. He or she may also contribute to data analysis, development of electronics, commissioning of the detector and other collaborative activities. Frequent travelling to and staying at the experimental site will be expected.

Applicants should provide a CV, a brief research statement, a list of publications and three letters of recommendation. Prior hardware experiences with rare-event searches, detector R&D (e.g. noble liquid/gas detectors, liquid scintillator detectors etc.), electronics and/or ultra-low radioactive background control will be worthy of mentioning.

Inquires of the position shall be sent to Prof. Meng WANG <mwang@sdu.edu.cn> by 25th January 2019.  The review of application will be organised soon after the deadline.

CPST has more than 30 faculty members working on the frontiers of fundamental science researches in particle and nuclear physics experiments and theories. Other experiments we are involved in, for instance, include Daya Bay, JUNO and CEPC. English is the working language at the center and non-Chinese-speaking candidates are welcome to apply.
